James Hyde first landed in France 16-7-1915 & went on to be awarded the Military Medal for services in France in the London gazette 16-11-1917 whilst serving with the 12th service battalion. This was followed by the award of the bar to the military medal in the London gazette 27-1-1918 also for service with the 12th battalion. He was discharged to the class Z army reserve 7-2-1919 & the London gazette states that he was a resident of Hyde.
