William Arthur Foster was born in Southampton 23-10-1893 & enlisted in to the Royal Navy 23-10-1911. He served onboard HMS Dartmouth in the Persian Gulf & for most of WW1. He was awarded his LS&GC in 1926 & pensioned to shore in 1933. But recalled for service on the outbreak of WW2 & finally discharged as permanently unfit for naval service in January 1940.
