WW1 British War Medal & Memorial Plaque
To- MAJOR.J.T.CATLEY.
James Thatcher Catley was educated at Highgate School, London & was a member of the school O.T.C. He enlisted as an other rank with the H.A.C in 1906 and was commissioned in to the regiment on the outbreak of war in 1914. He initially served with the regiment in Egypt before transferring to service in France attached to the R.F.A. He was sadly killeed in action in France & Flanders 12-9-1917 age 30 and is buried in Klein-Verstraat British Cemetery at Kemmel in Belgium & is recorded by the C.W.G.C as the late sonm of James Henry & Annie.W.Catley of Aisholt, Bridgwater, Somerset. He is also entitled to the Victory Medal.
NEF With the plaque being housed in a wooden mount. Complete with details from both O.D.G.W and the C.W.G.C along with a lengthy obituary from the Tatler.
