Andrew Burnside was awarded the Military Medal for services in France & Flanders in the London gazette 14-5-1919 & this stated that he was a resident of Galloway & was serving with the 255th Siege battery at the time of his award. He is also recorded as having been wounded in the war office daily casualty list dated 16-10-1918 & this also states that he was a resident of Galloway.
