3190435 Cpl Robert Telford was a Foundry labourer when he enlisted in to the 7th battalion of the K.O.S.B 1-9-1939. He was initially reported as missing in North West Europe 23-9-1944 and was later reported as being a prisoner of war in German hands following the 7th battalions participation with the air landing brigade at Arnhem during operation Market Garden when the battalion went in on Horsa Gliders 17-9-1944 but was forced to withdraw across the Rhine 25-9-1944. The recipient was held at Stalag 11B at Fallingbostel & became P.O.W number 118024.He was released at the wars end & returned to the UK to serve with the 124th Field regiment of the Royal Artillery prior to his discharge 4-4-1946.He later went on to serve with his local A.T.C unit and was awarded the Cadet force long service medal.
