James Stanton was born in Long Houghton, Northumberland & enlisted in Whitehall, Middlesex, Whilst living at Chevington Drift, Morpeth Northumberland. He first landed in France 29-10-1915 serving with the 11th Labour Company of the Royal Engineers. He sadly died of wounds in France & Flanders 1-12-1917 & is buried in Grevillers British Cemetery. He was attached the Labour Corps at the time of his death with service number 295719.
