Charles Eric Hardy first landed in Egypt 27-4-1915 serving as a private with the Derby Yeomanry with service number 1568. He later transferred to the Machine Gun Corps with service number 107878 & went on to be commissioned in to his own unit 28-1-18. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 23-10-1918 serving with the 19th battalion of the M.G.C. He was 24 years of age & was buried at St. Aubert British Cemetery. He is recorded by the C.W.G.C as the late son of Charles Edward Andrews Hardy & Edith Mary Hardy of 69 Otter Street, Derby. It also states that he was born in Geraldton, Western Australia & had seen prior service in Egypt, Gallipoli & Salonica.
