The recipient first landed in France 25-11-1914 serving with the 2nd battalion Border Regiment & just missed out on being awarded the 1914 star by three days. He is recorded in the war office casualty lists as being wounded 27-3-1915 & this was later reported in the Cumberland News. He went on to transfer to the Military Foot Police with service number P-4453.
