William Albert Tomson was born in Mile End, Middlesex & enlisted in London whilst living in East Ham, Essex.He first landed overseas in Egypt 29-12-1915 and sadly went on to be killed in action in France & Flanders 21-7-1916 whilst serving with the 38th Siege battery of the R.G.A on the Somme. He is buried in Flat Iron Copse cemetery to the east of Mametz wood.
