John Hay was born in Edinburgh but was both living in & enlisted at Scarborough. He first landed in France 15-10-1915 serving with the 7th battalion of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders just 11 days later 26-10-1915. He was 31 years of age when he died and is buried in Vermelles British cemetery. He recorded by the C.W.G.C as the late son of John & Isabella Hay of Edinburgh & the late husband of Ada Isabella Hay of 23 Cook's row, Scarborough.
