A Very nice family group to a father & son from Berwick on Tweed.
1) 1914-15 Star & Victory Medal
to- 9748.PTE.R.KNOX.R.SCOTS
Ralph Knox was born, enlisted & lived in Berwick on Tweed & first landed in France 9-12-1914 serving with the 1st battalion of the Royal Scots. He was killed in action in France & Flanders 14-5-1915 when he was shot by a sniper whilst carrying rations in to the trenches. He was an old soldier and had enlisted in 1905. He was 37 years of age at the time of his death & is buried in sanctuary wood cemetery. He is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Ralph & Bella Knox of 1/5 Walkergate, Berwick on Tweed. He has a good entry in De Ruvigny's roll of honour that states his father is serving in the Canadian infantry.

The recipient was the father of the above casualty.
