James Brennand was born in Preston, Lancs & enlisted in Blackburn, Lancs whilst living in Berwick on Tweed. He first landed in France 12-5-1915 and was sadly killed in action on the first day of the battle of Loos 25-9-1915. He was 33 years of age at the time of his death & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Loos memorial. The CWGC state that he was the late husband of Elizabeth Brennand of 5 parade, Berwick on Tweed.
