1914-15 TRIO TO, 5-1406.PTE.J.SAYERS.NORTHUMBERLAND.FUSILIERS. JOHN SAYERS FIRST LANDED IN FRANCE 20-5-1915 WITH THE 1/5TH BATTALION AND WAS SADLY KILLED IN ACTION IN FRANCE & FLANDERS 8-4-1916 WHILST ATTACHED TO THE MACHINE GUN CORPS (M.G.C) HE WAS BOTH BORN & ENLISTED IN WALLSEND-ON-TYNE AND IS BURIED IN THE LA LAITERIE MILITARY CEMETERY IN FRANCE. THE C.W.G.C RECORD THAT HE WAS THE 24 YEAR OLD SON OF ROBERT HENRY & MARY ELLEN SAYERS OF 24 BYRON AVENUE WILLINGTON QUAY, NORTHUMBERLAND AND THAT HE WAS ATTACHED TO THE 149TH BDE M.G.C AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH.COMPLETE WITH MIC DETAILS, MODERN GRAVE PHOTOS, DETAILS FROM C.W.G.C & S.D.G.W ALONG WITH OTHER BASIC DETAILS (ALL MEDALS NAMED TO THE NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS)
